Commercial Projects

JLL Lochrin Place Roof Terrace

Jack led the design, costing, and product sourcing for JLL’s Lochrin Place Roof Terrace. The scheme was shaped by a detailed survey and analysis, guiding a layout that encouraged both social interaction and quieter, more private moments. Views toward the Pentland Hills were framed and celebrated, while less desirable outlooks were screened, and shelter provided from sun and wind. Planting was selected for both resilience and authenticity reflecting the character of the surrounding Scottish landscape visible to the south of Edinburgh.

Pollok Park, Glasgow

Working in the public realm Jack helped lead the design detailing,  specifications, tendering and contractor management for the natural Robinia play park and accessible parking networks at Pollok Park in Glasgow.  These efforts were crucial in successfully delivering projects that significantly rejuvenated Pollok Park ahead of the grand reopening of the Burrell Collection

Cala, St Crispins, Edinburgh

In collaboration with Grange Landscaping and working with the Cala team Jack Verran Design designed Cala's affordable show gardens for their new homes at St. Crispins in Edinburgh. The goal was to create usable spaces that transformed the perception of what a small new-build garden can be. As agreed with Cala porcelain paving, clay pavers, and self-binding gravel were selected to achieve a more rustic aesthetic than a normally perceived new build space. To soften the overall scheme, we selected rich, resilient, and low-maintenance plants, including scented plants coming through the paving.

Glasgow Residential Design Scheme

Jack led the Design and Management of a 9,000 m² woodland designed as part of a wider ecological landscape strategy, incorporating a planting matrix of locally sourced native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and SUDS-compliant wetland species. The scheme prioritised biodiversity, hydrological performance, and long-term habitat development. A concise 50-year management plan accompanied the design, outlining succession phases to guide the establishment and natural evolution of the woodland ecosystem.

LVIA and ZTV

Projects include ZTV (Zone of Theoretical Visibility) mapping and LVIA reporting for a rural housing scheme in the Borders, commercial development in East Lothian and a solar development in Perthshire. These include site appraisal, visibility modelling, viewpoint photography, and clear, planning-ready reporting, shaping design decisions and reducing visual impact and forming broader Environmental Impact Assessments
